Do You Want to Be My Friend?

Lina and Sara meet at the school gate. A conversation begins that will last all year: about little things, with laughter, with affection, in cold and in warmth. It is the first day of school and the first day of a friendship.

 

It is the story of a friendship that begins and deepens through everyday dialogues, simple, with humor, with affection.

 

Two girls meet, on the way out they discover that they are going to the same place and they come back together. Throughout the pages and the year they become friends, get to know each other better and better and end the year with plans for the summer. The illustration also narrates the passage of time through the changing of the seasons.

 

 

THE AUTHOR

 

Laura Wittner was born in 1967, in Buenos Aires. A graduate in literature from the University of Buenos Aires, she coordinates poetry and translation workshops and works as a translator for various publishing houses.

 

Her previous picture book at Lecturita Justo antes de dormir / Just Before Bedtime is a 2022 Fundacion Cuatro Gatos finalist. She is also the author of A Story with Foxes.

 

 

THE ILLUSTRATOR

 

Zafouko Yamamoto is a Greek illustrator living and working in Thessaloniki, Greece. She studied architecture. After years of experimenting and self practice, she immersed herself in the world of illustration. She works on a variety of media such as water colors, gouache, color pencils and pastels.
