Here The Wind Blows
Camped on the bow of her dad's boat, Milda watches the cliffs straight ahead.
Her binoculars show her puffins in full flight. Soon the boat stops and Milda lands on the beach.
Vik, a young puffin, is ready to take flight. Perched on the edge of the cliff and accompanied by her grandmother, she prepares to spread her wings for the first time.
Suddenly, the wind and the mist rise up. One collides with the other and the two are reunited for a brief, suspended moment when they feel alone in the world.
Julie Rouanne's poetic, melodious writing gives perfect rhythm to this story about growing up. The magnificent gouache illustrations by Mélodie Baschet accompany the text brilliantly, taking us all the way to the coast of Iceland.
An introspective and contemplative picture book, full of modesty.
