The Umbrellas

  • Umbrellas - just like socks, keys, or scarves - often get lost. Where do they go? With whom? What kind of life do they lead after being with us? These are the adventures of a green, welltraveled umbrella.

The green umbrella was large and made of wood, accustomed to being forgotten by its owners, each leaving it behind in different  places, from a man who discarded it to a housekeeper who lent it to an actor. The umbrella traveled through cities, soaking in different scents and seeing the world, from mountains to the sea, and even feeling the rush of wind as it flew into the air for the first time.

A humourous allegory of the chain of coincidences in our lives.

    THE ILLUSTRATOR

Andrea Antinori's "illustrations are compelling, featuring humorous characters with strong personalities and a light, refined style that demonstrates great mastery. His limited palette of shapes, colours, and lines creates a vibrant graphical expression reminiscent of electric city lights. Each element in his illustrations has a well-defined weight and clear intention, conveying a message to all audiences. The jury's decision was unanimous, and they are confident that Andrea will continue to pursue his unique artistic voice even more radically." - Bologna Book Fair Fundacion SM jury, 2023.

Andrea Antinori lives in Bologna. He won many awards including the 2023 Bologna Book Fair - Fundacion SM award, Best International Illustrated Book - China Shanghai International Children's Book
